Bathroom Renovation tips – Blog 2
Money, Money, Money; how to budget for your bathroom renovation
Last week, I mentioned that I would be posting bathroom renovation tips over the next few weeks from our experienced team at McCarthy Plumbing Group. This week, we’re talking about money, honey!
First things first, how much of your hard-earned savings are you prepared to part with to get your dream space?
Making a budget isn’t as exciting as picking fittings, choosing styles, or pining over Pinterest we completely agree! But having a starting point (remember it can always be tweaked) is helpful to not only your trades, but it will keep your selections at a realistic level (you don’t want to fall in love with a $9,000 bathtub when your entire bathroom budget is $10,000…).
What’s an average bathroom renovation cost? Well, they usually start from $10,000 with the average being about $20,000. Small, cosmetic changes may only set you back $5,000 however premium bathroom renovations can be upwards of $30,000.
There are many factors that will determine your overall renovation budget. These include:
– The fittings you choose (budget or premium)
– The materials you choose (tiles aren’t all created equally)
– The size and structure of the area (size does matter when it comes to price)
– The cost of your tradies
– Relocation costs if required
We think it’s always a good idea to factor in a 20% buffer in case of:
– Variations (you might change your mind when tapware gets delivered)
– Structural changes (actually, I want the toilet there instead…)
– Demolition and rubbish removal
– Material price increases.
The sooner you have a ball-park budget, the sooner you can get to the fun part; planning! That’s in next week’s blog.
