All I Want for Christmas is a Sage Concrete Basin… 2025 Plumbing Trends
2025 Plumbing Trends
In our 11 years of owning a plumbing business in Wyndham, I have seen some of the most luxurious fixtures and fittings that I didn’t ever need but now really, absolutely want in my life. Our plumbing work on high-end boutique builds combined with watching The Block religiously for more than a decade has only added items to my list of most desired plumbing items for my home.
We’ve compiled our favourite 2025 plumbing trends that you may want to put on your Christmas wish list to add some affordable luxury to your home.
On the First Day of Christmas my True Love Gave to me, a Zip HydroTap in Brushed Chrome
The holy grail of kitchen mixers, multi-function taps turn a standard kitchen to a high-end kitchen instantly. There are a heap of different models on the market now, from InSinkErator, Zip, Rheem and Billi and they range between about $2,000 for the boiling and cool water model to $10,000 for the boiling, cool, chilled, filtered and sparkling water models with pull out sprays.
I’m dying to install one of these in my home. The problem is, I only want one if I can have the top of the range, the all-in-one boiling, chilled, filtered AND sparkling filtered water model from Zip. And she be nearly $8,000… which equates to a LOT of kettles and SodaStreams. I’m too tight to pay that much for a glorified kettle. A very stylish, luxe, practical and completely desirable glorified kettle that is.
Not for me this year Zip HydroTap, but I’ll continue to live vicariously through our clients who we install them for. And I’ll continue to buy a weekly lotto ticket from the guys at Sanctuary Lakes Lucky Lotto so I can get my precious one day.
I’ll Have a Blue, Blue, Blue, Blue Christmas Without a Blue Basin
Actually, I want a sage green one this year! It was pastel pink last year. It’s probably a good thing I haven’t changed my basin as I change my mind every year. But I do LOVE coloured basins. They make a bathroom pop! They add excitement, personality and creativity and are very on trend in 2024. The ones from Bramstone are so lush and pastel and incredibly fun.
Will a coloured sink age a bathroom faster? Potentially. In 15-20 or so years coloured sinks probably won’t be on trend anymore (however bathrooms are usually renovated every 20 years anyway). Although, they may very well get a revival à la bushy eyebrows and 90’s fashion (I wish I kept my old snap pants and halter necks…).
Coloured basins are a more cost-effective plumbing statement piece when compared to the Zip HydroTap, with above-counter coloured basins available from about $300. However custom Bramstone designs start from about $895… I’ll keep dreaming.
Fairytale of New Kitchens
Are the tech sinks from the videos on TikTok more your vibe? Reece have a Franke Sink with a Prep Centre that will be the hero of any kitchen. They may cost you $2,500 to purchase, but surely you’d save in Uber Eats costs if you had this handy prep station when making your dinner?
Have yourself a Merry Little Pot Filler
Another piece of affordable luxury plumbing is the Pot Filler. Pot Fillers are pull out kitchen taps installed directly above your stove for instant accessibility (and absolute convenience).
These fixtures are particularly handy for the elderly, those with a disability, arthritis or people who use large pots and just don’t have the strength to carry it from their kitchen sink to their stove full of water.
It’s another great statement piece for your home, and immediately elevates the opulence of your kitchen.
Pot Fillers (also known as pasta arms and kettle faucets) are reasonably priced from $270 plus installation costs, and were recently controversially featured on channel nine’s The Block. Foreman Keith had concerns about what would happen should the tap be left on, however there are currently no regulations regarding the installation of these fixtures from the Victorian Building Authority, however they do ask that consumers exercise caution.
I’m Dreaming of a Toto Smart Toilet
I’m not yet sold on smart toilets and bidets in the same sense that I’m not sold on heated seats in cars or Karl Stefanovic; I want to like them because everyone else does but they give me the ick.
We’ve installed a record amount of hand sprayers, bidets and Toto toilets this year, with many Melburnians preferring these to toilet paper for hygiene and cultural reasons.
We can be as stubborn as The Grinch when it comes to compliancy with these devices, however, we are sticklers to the VBA rules and won’t install them without high-hazard backflow prevention at the device and/or on the water meter. This is to protect you from voiding your insurance, ensures we remain compliant with the VBA and also protects you and your family and neighbours from backflow from the device.
Whilst they aren’t currently on my Christmas wish list, they are intriguing enough for me to never sleigh never to getting one of these installed at my place.
It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year to Install a Fridge Water Connection Point
Gin and Tonic without ice? Snow thanks! I’m prone to a tipple of Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz or Christmas gin this time of year poured over tonic water and served with a big ol’ bougie round ice cube. My Kmart ice block mould works fine if it’s just me, but if all my jingle ladies are around, I can’t quite keep up, which makes me wish I had a…
LG InstaView Refrigerator. Do I care about the knock twice to see inside gimmick? Nope. Smart in-built storage drawers? Nah. Craft Ice ball maker and chilled filtered water on demand? Now that’s love at frost sight.
Some fridges don’t require a fridge water connection point, but most fridges with ice and chilled water capabilities will require a water line to be installed behind your fridge by a licensed plumber.
