How Cleaning Your Gutters Can Save You Money AND Earn You QANTAS Points
What Do Gutter Cleans Have To Do With Frequent Flyer Points?
As mentioned in my last blog, I’m a sucker for collecting QANTAS frequent flyer points. From credit card payments, flying QANTAS and Jetstar, downloading the QANTAS points prompter as a browser extension, converting my Woolworths Everyday Rewards to frequent flyer points, buying (and drinking…) QANTAS wine and the easiest one of all, downloading the QANTAS wellbeing app and completing all of the tasks given.
The QANTAS Wellbeing App is a simple way to earn QANTAS points for doing the checks around our home we should be doing (as prevention is better than cure). The checks you can earn QANTAS points for in the app include checking your blood pressure, your tyre pressure, BMI check and other home safety checks including energy saver checks, smoke detector checks and home security checks.
What does this have to do with plumbing? The app also encourages users to complete both a Flexi Water Hose Check and Gutter Check. QANTAS encourages a gutter clean as ‘gutters are vital roofing components as they direct water away from the home in order to protect the non-waterproof parts of the structure. If gutters are blocked, internal and external damage can occur and this may not be covered by insurance’.
What’s in it for QANTAS? Users can earn up to 450 QANTAS points for completing all of the new home safety checks if they hold a QANTAS home insurance policy (10x more than the amount available to those without QANTAS insurance).
Even without QANTAS insurance, it’s well worth the exercise to undergo all of the home safety checks to ensure your home is safe from any impending disasters due to faulty flexi hoses or blocked gutters, and the small number of points earned for your time doesn’t hurt either. Every point counts!
So, enough about frequent flyer points, let’s talk about a gutter clean and why plumbers AND airline companies think you should spend a bit of time on checking and cleaning them.
