Bathroom Renovation tips – Blog 3
The next step in our bathroom renovation planning series (read part 1 and 2 here) is the fun part; the dream. It’s where all of those hours watching The Block, trawling Pinterest and following Instagram influencers finally pays off!
The best way to work out what you want is to create a mood board; these can be cut and pasted from magazines, creating boards on Pinterest, or saving posts on Instagram. Showing this to the McCarthy Plumbing Group reno team ensures everyone is on the same page with your project. Check out our webpage and see our previous projects for more inspiration.
Make sure you look at colours, trends, fixtures and fittings. Will your style age well? If you sell your home in the next 5 years is your style too unique for most buyers? A traditional, or classic, style would be encouraged if you aren’t in your forever home however if you’re staying put for years to come you have free rein to add lots of pops of colour, dramatic tapware and quirky tiles.
One of the problems with creating a vision is not having the budget to match! We’ve all been there…we can’t get a design out of our head that we’ve seen however we find out the price of that design and… it doesn’t reconcile with the bank balance.
Have a think of ways in which you can use basic tapware, tiles etc and find other ways to encompass your style including:
– Towels and bathmats; using different colours, textures and sizes
– Indoor Plants; never underestimate how a few leafy plants can make a room feel. Potted Polly is a fab local indoor plant business
– Accessories; art, a candle from local business Light & Glo Designs, a luxe soap dish.
Pin it! Watch it! Like it! Follow it!… you can never do too much research to find your style. Next week the real planning commences.
