Can you call a plumber during lockdown?

We’re currently experiencing covid lockdown number six here in metropolitan Victoria. Six! And as frustrated and fatigued as we are with them, many of us expect this won’t be the last before Christmas either.

Lockdowns are utterly heartbreaking for everyone and are particularly stressful for sole traders and small business owners (don’t worry, we aren’t big fans of the word ‘essential’ and promise not to use it when describing what services we can deliver in a lockdown).

There’s a lot of work we can’t do in a lockdown. We can’t continue your beautiful bathroom and kitchen renovations on occupied homes. We can’t come and put in those black matte taps you purchased last month for your laundry because you prefer black to chrome. We can’t connect the water point to your new fridge because you feel like ice in your drinks.

There are however a list of plumbing activities, deemed critical by the Master Plumbers Association of Victoria which adhere to the state government advice, that McCarthy Plumbing Group can attend in a lockdown. These activities include:

  • Hot water service repairs and replacements
  • Water leaks that can cause damage if unattended
  • Blocked drains, toilets, pipes and sinks
  • Burst or broken pipes
  • Any type of gas leak
  • Roof repairs
  • Outdoor plumbing works
  • Other critical plumbing repairs in the interest of public health and safety.

Once you determine if your plumbing problem can be rectified in a lockdown, we can send one of our happy, talented plumbers to attend your property. Our plumbers all follow our strict covid safe plan and are equipped with all of the appropriate PPE including masks, hazmat suits, safety goggles, respirators, gloves and boot covers.

If you are unsure if your plumbing problem constitutes emergency, is urgent or critical please give us a call on 03 9931 0905 or email us at info@mccarthyplumbinggroup.com.au.

We’re crossing our fingers and toes that our friends in the events, fitness, hospitality, tourism, retail and other trades industries are able to get back to what they do best very soon. #wyndhamtogether
